How to remove cookies

Cookies are small files recorded on your computer by the websites you visit. They help keep track of your navigation or of your preferences (language, username, etc).

You can delete them whenever you wish. The exact procedure depends on which Web browser and operating system you use. For example:

• Firefox® on GNU/Linux®

  Go to Tools > Clear Recent History (keyboard shortcut: Ctrl + Shift + Del). In « Time range to clear », select « Everything ». In the « Details » section, check « Cookies » then click « Clear Now ». You may also remove a specific cookie: go to Edit > Preferences (keyboard shortcut: Alt + E then N). In the « Privacy » tab, click « Show cookies ». Select the cookie to remove then click « Remove cookies ».

• Firefox® on Windows®

  Go to « Tools » then « Options ». Click « Privacy » then « Show cookies ». Click « Remove all cookies ».
  You may also remove a specific cookie: select the cookie to remove then click « Remove cookie ».

• Firefox® on FreeBSD®

  Go to Tools > Clear Recent History (keyboard shortcut: Ctrl + Shift + Del). In « Time range to clear », select « Everything ». In the « Details » section, check « Cookies » then click « Clear Now ». You may also remove a specific cookie: go to Edit > Preferences (keyboard shortcut: Alt + E then N). In the « Privacy » tab, click « remove individual cookies ». Select the cookie to remove then click « Remove cookies ».

• Opera on Windows®

  Go to Tools > Private data. Select « Delete cookies ».
  You may also remove a specific cookie by clicking « Manage cookies ». Select the cookie to remove then click « Delete ».

• Google Chrome™

  Go to the « Tools » menu (wrench-shaped icon on the right) then « Options » (keyboard shortcut: Alt then ↓ and O). In the « Under the Bonnet » tab, look for the « Privacy » section and click « Clear browsing data… ». Check « Delete cookies and other site data » and select « Everything » in « Clear data from this period ». Click « Clear browsing data ».
  You may also remove a specific cookie: click « Content settings… » and select « Cookies ». Click « Show cookies and other site data… », select the cookie to remove and click « Remove ».

• Safari®

  Go to Safari > Preferences. In the « Security » section, click « Show cookies » then « Remove all ».
  You may also remove a specific cookie: select it then click « Remove ».

• SeaMonkey®

  Go to Edit > Preferences (keyboard shortcut: Alt + E then E). In the « Privacy & Security » section, go to « Cookies ». Click « Cookie Manager » and go to the « Stored Cookies » tab. Click « Remove All Cookies ».
  You may also remove a specific cookie: select it then click « Remove Cookie ».

• K-Meleon

  Go to Tools > Privacy then Clear Data > Clear Cookies.
  You may also remove a specific cookie by going to Tools > Privacy then View Data > View Cookies. Select the cookie to remove then click « Delete selected cookies ».

• Konqueror

  Go to Settings > Configure Konqueror (keyboard shortcut: Alt + S then C). Click the « Cookies » icon then, in the « Site policy » section, click « Delete All ».
  You may also remove a specific cookie: select it then click « Delete ».

• Epiphany

  Go to Edit > Personal Data (keyboard shortcut: Alt + E then E). In the « Cookies » tab, click « Clear All ».
  You may also remove a specific cookie: select the cookie to remove then click « Remove ».

• Internet Explorer on Windows®

  Go to Tools > Internet options. Go to the « General » tab, then in the « Browsing history » section, click « Delete » and « Delete cookies ».
